A City-Council “Walk” In The Park?
Dani Walker Is Determined To Become The Next District 3 City Council Representative in San Diego. But Will Her Independent Streak and Relentless Advocacy for Change Ignite Voter Attention?
It’s early evening in San Diego and I’m quietly sitting at a quaint Mexican restaurant awaiting my evening guest. A din of conversations permeates the air amidst the sight of tacos, burritos, and enchiladas.
In walks a woman with a confident swagger that exudes, “I got this.” Having initially met a couple of weeks prior, the result of a random encounter at a local coffeehouse, we immediately recognized one another and embraced in a big hug.
Her name is Dani Walker and she is an uber-successful businesswoman who has now set her sights on becoming the District 3 City Council representative for the City of San Diego. But to succeed though she must overcome an entrenched political environment that’s fiercely liberal in its approach to running the city.
Running as a grassroots, right-leaning independent, her uncommon views are already creating raised eyebrows. At a recent event where she was asked about her resolve amidst the power, money and what some would consider impossible odds in fueling local change, Dani without even a semblance of a flinch responded.
“I’m tough and not afraid of anyone.”
