Hi, Antonia Malchik What a breath of fresh air to read your article this morning. I have been car-free since 2013 which has led to my daily enjoyment of long walks in cities like Denver, Folsom (CA), San Diego, Chicago — all cities I’ve lived in over the years.

Las Vegas, not so much. Too hot and the city outside of The Strip has poor walkability.

Many find it so odd that I’d rather set out for a 7–8-mile walk to my next meeting or local coffeehouse than make use of a vehicle. Sure, I use public transportation and even Lyft occasionally but my preference is always to amble along at my own pace with my own thoughts.

One observation from my walks of late is the new reality we are facing with masks. Now when I cross paths with someone and flash my, may I say, adorable Michael Scott grin, I have no idea whether they are smiling and acknowledging me back. It makes me sad that this universal point of engagement has been marred by this new reality.

Again, great article Antonia. It has sparked me to give consideration as to where I’m going to walk today. In the meantime, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to do a feature interview with you on your new book for my Medium publication “Great Books, Great Minds.”

Would you be kind enough to ponder on your next walk and let me know if you are open to this?

Happy Walking!
